Poverty and exclusion are heavy things to carry.
For this film, I wanted to stay away from miserabilism and build everything around hope. The idea was simple and literal: once the weight is lifted, people can rise.
We turned Centraide’s work into a visual metaphor. Through a series of human situations rooted in Greater Montreal, poverty and exclusion become almost physical. Gravity holds the characters down, until a helping presence allows them to rise.
